The Birth of Twitter..

"Sitting in the Flickr archives is a nearly 10-year-old document uploaded a couple of years ago by its author, Jack Dorsey (@jack), who started Twitter in 2006 along with co-founders Evan Williams (@ev) and Biz Stone (@biz).

The legal-pad sketch of the idea that would become Twitter has been noticed before, but given all the recent hype, we thought we'd track down Dorsey and ask him about it in a little more detail. In the following interview, Dorsey uses the document to touch on aspects of the micromessaging service's history, including the inspirations and constraints that came to define one of the Web's most rapidly growing information channels."

PSA from the EIC of Hip Hop, Elliott Wilson aka YN

Anyone that knows the kid knows my love for all the classic hip hop publications. I collected all of them before the end of print media in '05. The dude above was very influential in documenting hip hop on a media level from way back in the ego trip mag and book days followed by The Source all the way up until his stint at XXL. He was abruptly let go on this day Jan. 7 2008 and it was something i happen to peep cuz it secured the fact for me that i'd no longer be checkin XXL as a source for Hip Hop news. Well I came across YN n twitter and began following him to peep what he was up to with his Rap Radar thing. today he sent a twit out asking if anyone knew what today was the anniversary of and I for some odd reason remembered. I twitted him back and in appreciation he shouted me out on this vlog. Good Lookin' out YN!!

I'm a Nike Head..

Anyone that knows me knows my affinity for sneakers.. I've been doing them for as long as I can remember and this was before the late 90's boom and before the camp outs.. I remember going to Syracuse for school in '94 and the first weekend there going to a sneaker store in downtown South Salina and literally buying out this old asian mans stock in my size.. he had some real gems like Bo Jacksons, Hi-top Airs and my grail at the time, Mark Jackson Nike Pumps with the clear plastic box (which I still have to this day..) Anywhere I went to dj I made 2 mandatory stops.. local record shops and local sneaker spots.. Me & J-live killed a store back in '96 in Helsinki.. I had to leave vinyl behind to make space for the pickups.. haha.
Air Force 1's have always been a favorite ( along with Air Max 90's AFIII's and Adidas Superstars & Metro Atittude Hi's to name a few..) Recently I fell back on the sneaker game mostly cuz of over-saturation and my displeasure with Nike's handling of the 25th anniversary of the Air Force 1 (I didn't cop one release, they were all wack) But slowly the hype's been dying down and cats are movin' on to Supra's and anything else Weezy wears so I started taking notice of releases again. Then along came the Slam Jams.. These bad boys (pictured above in all 4 colors, made for a store in Paris) really got me going again and now I'm back full blown..

The 2 pictured above are snowboard boot inspired Air Force 1 Hi's (which I wish nike did more of) and the second one in particular is by The graffitti legend Stash..

These right here were the Black Friday catch.. Clark Kent did his thing on designing these bad boys..

Last but not least are these 1 World Air Force 1's designed by Busy P, a french electro DJ. He really did his thing on these. He didn't take them too serious and went with whatever he was feeling at the time and the result is a funky shoe.
I know my photography sucks but I should be getting some "help" soon from someone so lets see if the future images improve.. haha..

I'll be posting my pickups regularly so stay tuned..

Mr. 26.2

A week ago Sunday I had the honor of running in the New York City Marathon. I've been a member of NYRR (New York Road Runner) going on 3 years now and had to run 9 races of varying distances from 3 to 13 miles in a 12 month span in order to qualify for the Marathon (I had actually qualified last year but injured myself 3 weeks prior to the race so I was forced to defer to this year).
Now I've djayed in front of 3000 plus people as far away as Helsinki, Finland. Helped build the second greatest (after D&D of course) recording studio in HipHop History, Baseline. I've had the pleasure of knowing and watching the greatest of all time (of course Hov) do his thing in the studio on numerous occasions. While in college at Syracuse I even had the unique priviledge to coach a basketball intramural college team of friends with 5 starters who actually all went on to play in the NFL(including Donovan Mcnabb). I say all that, not to front, but to say this.. none of those high points in my life thus far can come remotely close to the emotional feeling that came with running the New York City Marathon. The exhilaration of crossing that line is a feeling I hope I never forget.. While I had a goal of completing the race under 4 hours, I managed a 4:15 finish time and lost to Puff's time of 2003 by 1 minute an 1 second.. lol

R.I.P Yankee Stadium

Ok, while I'm a die hard Met fan, I am ultimately a general baseball fan and New Yorker above all and actually frequented Yankee Stadium much more than I ever did Shea. I grew up 10 minutes away across McCombs Dam Bridge and had so many childhood memories.. From the afterschool program trips to the nosebleeds sponsored by Con Edison to gettin' a free entrance into the Bleachers whenever I wanted thanks to my good friend's uncle working the gate.. I eventually got to be a part of and sit the bench in the CHSAA high school all star game and a few years later got to put to good use an American League pass to enter for free and have any open seat in any American League ballpark which I bummed off my peoples Kevin Shand (from my Nervous Records days) who had a roomie that worked for the League.. I went to like 20 Yankee games that summer..lol
I still jog around the stadium every so often and its hard to believe its gonna close. Needless to say, I have many memories of Yankee Stadium and it is definitely a sad day..

Happy Bday Bill Murray..

As I sit here and watch this sad ass funeral-like Yankee game, I remembered hearin' that today was one of my favorite comedian's Bday. This dude is straight up comedy, even with his real life antics..

8. You need to bring your tray table to the upright and locked position.

4. Our next guest is someone who needs no introduction.
3. You’ve got a security breach at Los Pantalones.
2. Men may be From Mars … but I can see something that rhymes with Venus.

And the #1 way to tell someone his zipper is unzipped…..
(insert drumroll here)

Because I'm a Man..

Because I’m a man, when I lock my keys in the car I will fiddle with a wire long after hypothermia, or heat stroke, has set in. The AAA is not an option. I will win.

Because I’m a man, when the car isn’t running very well, I will pop the hood and stare at the engine as if I know what I’m looking at. If another man shows up, one of us will say to the other, “I used to be able to fix these things, but now with all these computers and everything, I wouldn’t know where to start.” We will then drink beer and break wind as a form of Holy Communion.

Because I’m a man, when I catch a cold, I need someone to bring me soup and take care of me while I lie in bed and moan. You’re a woman. You never get as sick as I do, so for you this isn’t a problem.

Because I’m a man, I can be relied upon to purchase basic groceries at the store, like milk or bread. I cannot be expected to find exotic items like “cumin” or “tofu.” For all I know, these are the same thing. And never, under any circumstances, expect me to pick up anything for which ”feminine hygiene product” is a euphemism. ( F.Y.I. guys cumin is a spice and not a bodily function).

Because I’m a man, when one of our appliances stops working, I will insist on taking it apart, despite evidence that this will just cost me twice as much, once the repair person gets here and has to put it back together.

Because I’m a man, I must hold the television remote control in my hand while I watch TV. If the thing has been misplaced, I may miss an entire show looking for it (though one time I was able to survive by holding a calculator)…applies to engineers mainly.

Because I’m a man, there is no need to ask me what I’m thinking about. The answer is always either sex, cars or sport. I have to make up something else when you ask, so don’t ask.

Because I’m a man, I do not want to visit your mother, or have your mother come visit us, or talk to her when she calls, or think about her any more than I have to. Whatever you got her for Mother’s Day is okay; I don’t need to see it. And don’t forget to pick up something for my mother too.

Because I’m a man, you don’t have to ask me if I liked the movie. Chances are, if you’re crying at the end of it, I didn’t…and if you are feeling amorous afterwards…then I will certainly at least remember the name and recommend it to others.

Because I’m a man, I think what you’re wearing is fine. I thought what you were wearing five minutes ago was fine, too. Either pair of shoes is fine. With the belt or without it, looks fine. Your hair is fine. You look fine. Can we just go now?

Because I’m a man, , after all, I will share equally in the housework. You just do the laundry, the cooking, the cleaning, the vacuuming, and the dishes, and I’ll do the rest… like looking for my socks, or wandering around in the garden with a beer wondering what to do.
